Dear parents and players,

The Waconia Girls Tennis team and individual photos are ready to be viewed and purchased!  There are also buttons, fridge magnets, and other keepsakes that can be ordered, just choose those options on the side when you click on the photo you want. NEW THIS SEASON: DIGITAL DOWNLOADS!  You can purchase a digital download of any photo, or if you spend $50 in physical prints/products from ONE season/gallery, I will send you a digital download of your choice of one of the photos you used for prints other than the team photo! 

 Once you complete the purchase, the photos/items will be delivered directly to you. If you want any touch-ups done (acne, blemishes, fly-away hair, etc) on your child's photos, please contact me before purchasing and we can discuss those options. If you choose to have that done after buying the photo, you will have to repurchase the edited version.

We have not moved on from the regular season to the final weeks of the year for Girls tennis. The only players needed to be at practice tomorrow are the 15 section rostered players; the line-up is posted below the message. For the rest of the team, we hope to see you around cheering on the team at Minnetonka 4pm on Tuesday, at the team banquet on October 12th from 6:30pm-7:30pm at the Middle school cafeteria and auditorium, and of course we can't wait for next year to see you all again. Here is the schedule as follows:

Monday 10-2: Section team practice from 3:15-4:45pm

Tuesday 10-3: Early release for section players at 2:30pm, bus leaves at 2:45pm, and the match against Minnetonka will start at 4pm. We usually go out to eat after, but that is TBD. 

Wednesday 10-4: Section team practice from 3:15pm-4:45pm. 

Thursday 10-5: Section team match if we win on Tuesday, or individual section practice from 3:15pm-4:45pm. (Individual section players are #1 and #2 singles/doubles)

Friday 10-6: Section team practice if we win on Thursday, or individual section practice from 3:15pm-4:45pm. (Individual section players are #1 and #2 singles/doubles)

We are having some bad luck with our matches lately. The rain is cancelling our match today against SWCHS and we are not able to have a makeup match with the end of the regular season being the end of this week. 

We will move our Senior night festivities indoors to the Bayview Gymnasium from 3:30pm-4:30pm. There is not a lot formal going on, but more of an open house to get pictures with your banners and small gifts for each of the seniors. I would love to see as many players there as possible to show our gratitude towards so many, 22, seniors who have shaped this program over the years. 

Our other change is Benilde St. Margaret is also not able to have their match on Wednesday 9-27-23, but Coach Benham will be having our own tournament and games instead of a regular practice. Again, any athlete not going to the Jordan match on Wednesday will be at the B fun time from 3:15pm-5:00pmish.

This is our final week of full team and it got extremely busy. I know the calendar online is not the same as what I have been mentioning in my emails, but we are trying to keep it as current as possible. I have rosters ready for Monday-Wednesday, but still figuring out Thursday and Saturday. 

Monday 9-25 - SENIOR NIGHT! Set up is 2:30pm for any volunteers who are able to make it. Before the match, 4pmish, I will say a little something about our seniors and pump up the girls about to play. B team roster below.

Tuesday 9-26 - Group 2 Lift (Juniors and Sophomores) 6:55am-7:30am. Match against Holy Family. Varsity and JV at Holy Family at 4pm, B team home. Bus leaves at 3:15pm. 

Wednesday 9-27 - Group 1 lift (Seniors and Freshmen) 6:20am-6:55am. B match against Benilde St. Margaret at home 4:15pm. All players not playing in Jordan will play against BSM. Varsity and JV away at Jordan to make up last Friday's match. Bus leaves at 1:45pm, the match starts at 3pm. 

Thursday 9-28 - Match against New Prague. Varsity and B away, bus leaves at 2:45pm, early release at 2:30pm. The match starts at 4:15pm. JV home. 

Friday 9-29 - HOMECOMING! No practice

Saturday 9-30 - JV tri at Jordan. Vs Jordan at 10am. Vs Belle Plaine at 11:30am. The bus will leave at 8:45am. 

Chanhassen JV is at the HS, B is at Pioneer Ridge. All players on those teams will have an early release at 2:55pm with a bus departure of 3:15pm for JV and B team will have their own bus at 3:30pm. Varsity arrive by 3:30pm for our home match. 

Also, I am cancelling the Wednesday morning lift, you should do this workout at home instead. 

Thursday against Benilde will only be Varsity and JV, but B will be rescheduled. 

October 12th at the HS auditorium is officially our tennis banquet. Cake, cookies, and water will be provided before a final presentation by the coaches. 

After going 3-0 as a Varsity team and multiple wins at each level last week, we have a busy week coming up with some more winnable matches.  I am still getting exact numbers for some of the Chanhassen matches, but I believe everyone will play on Tuesday. Shakpoee has 12 at each level so not everyone will be playing. BSM on Thursday will have their entire team at Waconia, so the start time might change, but we should be able to have a lot of girls play. Finally, Friday against Jordan is 12 Varsity and 10 JV. Here is the breakdown. 

Monday 9-18 - JENSEN'S 40TH BIRTHDAY! Group 2 Lift (Juniors and Sophomores) 6:55am-7:30am. (They had to change us from our normal time) Varsity bus leaves at 2:45pm, match is at Shakopee West Middle School, start at 4pm JV and B teams home at 4pm. 

Tuesday 9-19 - Match against Chanhassen. Varsity Home 4:15pm, JV away at Chan HS, B team at Pioneer Ridge Middle School. 

Wednesday 9-20 - Group1 lift (Seniors and Freshmen) 6:20am-6:55am All levels practice from 3:15pm-5:00pm

Thursday 9-21 - All levels at home against Benilde St. Margaret. Start time has not been determined yet, but I assume it will be 3:30pm or before. 

Friday 9-22 - Varsity and JV match, home, against Jordan. All players not playing will have a practice before the match begins from 3:15pm-4:00pm

All other line-ups will be sent out when all numbers are specifically known. 

We have a lot of matches this week, and I know everyone will be playing and hopefully having fun! We also have a few changes to the schedule: 

Sept 13th: B team match scheduled at Pioneer Ridge Middle School against Chanhassen. 

Sept 22nd: Jordan will be bringing their Varsity and JV at 4:15pm

Sept 23rd: No triangular

Sept 25th: Senior Night! B team match against Southwest Christian High school, home at 4:15pm. 

Sept 26th: Holy Family, Varsity and B home, JV away at 4:15pm

This week:

Monday 9-11: Varsity home vs SWCHS, JV away vs SWCHS at 4:00pm (Bus leaves at 3:15pm). B team short practice from 3:15pm-4:00pm

Tuesday 9-12: Varsity and B team home against Bloomington Jefferson 4:15pm, JV away, bus leaves at 2:45pm. 

Wednesday 9-13: Group 1(Seniors and Freshmen), 6:20am-6:55am lifting. B team away at Pioneer Ridge MIddle school against Chanhassen, bus leaves at 3:20pm. Varsity and JV practice 3:15pm-5:00pm

Thursday 9-14: Group 2(Sophomores and Juniors), 6:20am-6:55am lifting. Varsity away at SLP, bus leaves at 2:45pm. JV and B home against SLP. 4:15pm (Rosters will come out later in the week)

Friday 9-15: Fun Friday practices 3:15pm-5:00pm all levels

Each 9th-12th grade WHS student is eligible to try out for a spot on one of three tennis teams in our program. We have the following levels of play: Varsity, JV, B. We do not cut at any level so all are welcome. 

Additionally, all players must complete the registration process through our school activities website, have an updated sports physical, and be cleared to play in order to be allowed to participate in tryouts. Please have these items completed at least one week prior to our first day of tryouts to allow any necessary communication to ensure your eligibility. 

*Waconia High School Tennis does have a "Middle School Advancement Policy" for current 7th and 8th grade students who believe they could compete to play on our Varsity team. Please read the policy carefully and contact Coach Bessire if you believe you meet each qualification.
